One of our registered members can't log in. We have been working on this problem for a while now and I am stumped.

We have cleared her cookies, deleted her internet files, she has tried a different username and password and I have even tried to register her with a new username and password.

This is what happens everytime she tries to log in:

Karen, first it said "thank you for logging in". Then immediately it jumped to you are not logged in.
Any suggestions?

Try to login as her and see if you can recreate the issue. If it allows you to login just fine it is an issue with her computer (try cookie security level to medium or low). If it won't allow you to login it's a cookie issue with your baord.

what version of the UBB are you running?

Gizmo, we use UBB.classicâ„¢ 6.7.0

I logged in as her and I had no problems. I will have her check her cookie security level.
Thanks!

Not a problem. Sometimes the best way to troubleshoot an error is to re-create it; or at least try to...

But in any case, my security level for IE is set to a custom level, but low-medium should be sufficient.

Also, if those don't work, get the version of Windows she's using (or other OS) and the version of her browser.

Hi Karen:

This is a really common problem with users that are new to a board. We have a FAQ article that addresses the issue and will help your user set her browser settings accordingly. You can pass that article on to your user, and let us know how it goes. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I have found this if the temp files setting in IE is left at it's default level on newer systems. Have her set it to 20MB, not the 1500+ it likes by default. It does REALLY weird things when it's set that high asfter time.

I had this problem on my UBB ver 6.05 and it turned out to be that I had the forum loaded in a frame. If you open the forum in its own window, logging in was possible.

Maybe they fixed this in 6.7?

Dan: the issue with frames is not something we can fix. frames interfere with the browser's ability to handle cookies, and are just not a good idea for messageboards...
