Every now and then a member changes his/her Publicly Displayed Name and then goes to change it back, only to find out that they cannot do so. Is there some way to let them change it back?

Sometimes a member is 'unregistered' by us upon request, and then wants to come back. They face the same problem is they want to use the same Displayed Name.

You may want to rebuild your Member Stat files and see if that does the trick.

We have 1500 registered members. Should this be done at a time when few folks are online?

Rebuilding Member Stats: "Note that for large boards, this can be a fairly intensive process. You should only perform this rebuild when absolutely necessary. Your message board will not be accessible while the member rebuild is in progress."

Do we shut down the board first to do this? Any down side to doing this?

The board will automatically close while you run this... for that many members, it shouldn't take too long.
