One of our forums is private and all the users on that forum have been registered by us to use that specific forum. We do not want anyone to be able to browse that forum and show up as a "Guest" in the recent visitors list. Is there a way to turn that off for just that forum or for every forum? Thanks!
You can make a forum private for only certain members, as you seem to have done, but you will almost always see guests on the recent vistor list.
People logging in are deemed guest until they finish logging in. Search engines that try to spider you are listed as guest even if they can't get in, as are casual passersby that are turned away.
OK, so anyone listed as a guest will then be listed as the real person soon afterwards? Basically, we want to make sure that everyone who browses the forum shows up in the list, are you saying that they will eventually? I am not sure how they could still be logging in and be in the private forum, they need to be logged in to get to that forum.
Ok, but how can they be in the restricted forum if they are not logged in? You know what I mean? I understand what you are saying, but they shouldn't show up as guests in a private forum if they are not yet logged in, right? It would be sort of an oxymoron.
Users using dialup are susceptible to having multiple IPs within a 30 minutes. If a user has 3 logged IPs within that span, 1 will be listed as him/her, the other 2 will be logged as guests. As long as it's set to only allow registered users, you don't have to worry about it
Sorry, forgot about the other question. How do I disallow people from hiding from the recent visitors list? We want everyone in that forum to show up in the recent visitors list. If that means we need all users in all forums to always show up, that is okay, but how do I make sure no one can hide?
