How do I delete old PMs from my board. We are running up against hosting space issues. I can prune posts (do I have to update stats before they are actually gone?) and I see in my FTP file manager that there are scores of old PMs. I'd like to delete all those from 2000, 2001 and 2002. I'd give members ample warning, then delete those that remain. Can I just delete the files? Also, it's difficult to figure out the dates. I see dates like 0803104 and 10312.

I'm running UBB.classicTM 6.5.0. Is this something I can do from the control panel? Or do I have to remove files from my server? If so, which directory/files exactly am I looking for? THanks.

No, it's not something that can be done in the control panel. You will need to remove the files from the pm_topics directory. You can use the creation date to decide which ones to get rid of.

Once you've deleted them, they will no longer show up in the member's PM list, but the PM count will probably be wrong. If you put in support ticket, we can provide you with a "PM rebuilder" that should correct the count.

In future versions, we will have a PM removal feature in the control panel.
