I wonder if someone could explain the options here a bit better... I have v. 6.7

I have the short version selected at the moment. That seems to work fine. I also click on old post which have old style urls to threads on the board, and they work fine, too.

I also checked use "fake html" extensions as well as "short form" spider--do these conflict?

Any downside to this or preference for the longer form?

The only difference between short and long is purely cosmetic. The fake .html extension is partially cosmetic and partially functional. It will fool some search engines into thinking that it's spidering flat pages. Some will see just the .cgi or .php and get scared off.

Should I use BOTH the fake and either the short or the long--or do they conflict?

One or the other. Myself I run short (easier to read).

They don't conflict, you can use the fake as well as short/long... I use short and fake <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Oh yeh, I like the .html addon (fake); i've noticed that more pages get crawled.
