UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums UBB.classic UBB.classic 6 Support 'core' files?

Can someone tell me what the "core.xxxx" files are for in the cgi-directory? I'm running way low on space on my ISP and these files are taking up almost 200MBs. I opened one of them, but can't make much sense of it. There seem to be many more than the number of forums I have.

Can I delete these files, or are they critical?

UBB doesn't use core.xxx files to my knowledge, so it's probably related to something else on your server

That's weird because I don't see core files showing up anywhere else besides inside my ubb-cgi directory. But thanks. It gives me something else to look at.

core files are memory dumps created when a crash occurs. It's safe to delete them.

it's a memory process dump. Essentially, your server had a problem running a perl process, so it dumped it's memory to a file so you could read it.

Unless you know how to read it you can just delete it and save some disc space.
