I couldn't find an exact answer to my question so here goes:

I just upgraded to 6.7 and am playing with the islands. I tried to put a simple island with 5 newest posts in one forum. Here is the script:

I put it in the header of my page via the styles page in the control panel. But it comes up as an out of place box that looks horrible docked at the VERY top of my page. Even above my logo.

How can I get it docked on the side instead of the top?

And contrary to what some people say this is NOT as easy as some say. The documentation is very vague.

hi there - i'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having. perhaps it would be easier to help if we could look at your board. could you give us the URL to your board, where we can see this?
