Are your running Norton Internet Security by chance?

What does Norton do then ?

You are right , it was pre-loaded on my laptop .

What do I have to do to rectify my issue.

If you don't need it, turn it off. If you need it, temporarily turn it off when you send a password. You could also use Firefox if you are concerned about safe browsing.
