I've been a long time UBB user and have a lifetime license. My site has has way out grown Classic or even threads.

I need to move to a forum based on PHP/MySQL. I must get picture uploading and attachments, membership options (paying), etc. I was hoping the Classic replacement would do these things.

It's now been over a year since this post by Mr. Dreezer.
https://www.ubbcentral.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/9/57.html

He said that the product that will replace classic and threads should be done in the spring of 2005. I read on these forums that this has been delayed. OK, so what's the story? Why not hire more programmers and get this software launched?

It seems like this site is dead. Not too many people coming here like they used to. So am I just an idiot for not switching to vBu*** or some other forum software? Maybe I'm slow, but I'm loyal and hate change. So what's going on? Please explain what my options are. Give me the good and the bad. If I need to buy vBu.... or some other software, just tell me. I can take it.

Groupee is not an option for me. I get over 150GB of traffic a month, so I must have my own server. It looks like I may have to go outside of the Groupee/UBB company to get what I need. I just wanted to give the management one last chance to sell me on sticking around a while longer.

Thanks for your hard work! I wish you guys the best.

You can always head over to http://www.infopop.com/q/q.php if you need some more assistance on specific issues. Whether or not you will get more information on the new product via the support ticket, I cannot say.

The May newsletter indicated that they were behind schedule on the product. The latest newsletter stated that 6.7.3 is scheduled to go beta this month.

I will toss this thread over to Groupee staff for them to reply.

Hi Chloe,

Thanks for the reply, but why not just answer my questions?

I've already spoken to people at Groupee and no one could tell me when the new product would be released. All I could get from the sales person was that your products don't do what I need them to do.

My site has been running on UBB.Classic for a long time and I hate to switch to vBu***, but I need more features. And I needed them last year, so I just can't wait much longer for Groupee to introduce the replacement for UBB.Classic. And no, Threads won't cut it. It's lacking support and will be replaced soon. Plus, it does not have subscription features.

I need to be able to offer lifetime or yearly subscriptions, picture hosting and attaching, etc. And it must be on my own server because I get 130GB of traffic and Groupee's prices are crazy.

Thanks,

- Bill

Bill,

I understand your frustration with the lack of information, however, I would assume that if they could give you a date, that they would. At this point, I haven't seen any beta sites yet. When sites running the beta crop up, I would imagine that a date for release would be easier to judge once we see those.

Watching the UBB.classic newsletter, and the Announcements forum here are the best sources for updates.

/edit i totally agree to FFCobra: i'm also a long-time ubb.c-user, running my site since '98 / '99 and never wanted to choose another software due i liked the look&feel of ubb.c and platforms like ubbdev.com offered me dozens of nice ideas and patches to enhance the features and quality of my website. but i had to switch several times the server, i had to delete millions of postings due some shared servers with lower performance haven't been able any more to handle such large flatfiles. last year i bought my threads-license and wanted to switch, but on the one hand i never was happy with the look&feel... so, any news 'bout NGProduct? :-/ I rarely don't like so switch to postnuke, phpnuke, phpboard, vbulletin or fusionbb .. but .. maybe .. i have to ?
