Is it possible, if UBB.classic is posted to one domain, to display content islands on another domain?

We can't get UBB.classic installed on our new server, so we were looking into the possibility of hosting it on another domain, on a server that is compatible, and feeding over the content islands, that feature in various locations on our main site.

Is this possible?

Yes, you can feed Content Islands across domains. All you need to do is include the code provided when you build the CI. RSS won't do the trick to include in another webpage, but you can give the URL for the RSS to people with feed readers, or include it in the meta tags for the Firefox users <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

The difference between the Styled and Unstyled versions is the Styled Versions get formatted with the specified UBB Style, where the Unstyled you can control via CSS.

Adding to what ron has stated; I myself feed the RSS feeds from UBBDev, UBBCentral, and a few other forums to my homepage for quick syndication of inforamation...

It's all home-brewed scripting for the relay script and all other scripting on the page.

Hi, Just following up this, as it is a more relevant post.

I have inserted one of the content islands into our home page: www.tradmusic.com.

The board is, however, hosted here:
www.talktradmusic.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

So the content islands works, but all of the links are incorrect! They are all resolving to the domain that is hosting the content island, not the domain that the board is hosted on!

Can anyone help?

Ok, so I think I have hacked a fix, but I'm worried that future CI's will not work.

I did a find and replace in the html.js file, changing www.tradmusic.com to www.talktradmusic.com. It appears to have worked, but if a new message is posted, will it point to tradmusic.com or talktradmusic.com?

The CI's should list the domain as that of the originating forum; if it doesn't then something is off as I believe that's how it should work in the first place.
