Hi all! First time poster here, but a longtime user of diesel truck forums. Now (heh heh) I've been made a site admin, and have been granted supreme Power of the Dark Side access to wipe out the existance all those who have ever slighted me. MUWAHAHAHA!(just kidding )

I've run several searches before posting, but I'm not quite seeing the answer I'm looking for. Forgive me if I post another generic "what type of oil to use" question.

We are reorganizing our UBB classic 6.6.1 forums (dieselram.com) and I'm trying to get the drop down search list to match the forum order as displayed on the forum home page. As new model year trucks came out, forums were added later on, and as a result our latest forum for 3rd gen trucks appears way down at the bottom instead of at the top in the "search forum" list.

1) If I have this right, there is no present CP option to determine the drop down search list order? Seems to default to the forum NUMBER rather than the FORUM DISPLAY ORDER as specified.

2) The ONLY thing I can think of to clean up the search function is to:
a) Create duplicate forum lists from scratch, with the forum number matching our desired order
b) move the existing topics to the duplicate new forum
c) delete all old forum headings

It seems like an awful lot of work, but I think it might be the only thing we can do.

My question is whatconsequences can you think of to doing this to our board? How do we go about "refreshing" or "re-indexing" (what is that ).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The list should be generated off of the order of your forum summary. Have you tried to clear the cache??

I cleared the cache; no change.

the drop down search list of forums still show them in the order they were created, not in the order they're ummm..."ordered" in

This was actually one of the longest standing quirks in the UBB. I fixed it in 6.7 with the changes to allow multiple-but-not-all forum searching.

(In short, we don't show categories in the search dropdown menu pre-6.7, thus creating a severe forum ordering problem.)

Sorry for the delay in posting back.

Is there a fee for upgrading to the new release? I think we're still running 6.6.1 and we're definite newbies

If your Member Area access has elapsed, yes, you'll need to renew it - $99 US for another year.
