About 3 times a year I need to buy another block of 5000 disk files from my host server at $10/month. I have done this maybe 4 times over the last few years and it is starting to add up. I am looking for suggestions on how to get rid of some disk files BESIDES deleting old posts.
One thing I thought of is to get rid of all the posts that have O replies. Is there a way to do a search for these?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm sorry I can't help you with your question - but can you please explain why this is? Is you board under *very* heavy usage? What sort of traffic do you have? My board is just taking off at around 5-6 Gb a month. I'm paying £20/year (? = $35) Sorry, just curious.

Find a host that does not have a file quota. No, seriously.

File Quota limits are completely stupid and idiotic; seriously, finding a new host will be well worth it in your position

I don't have a problem with space just disk files. I guess each new post/reply takes up disk space.
What hosts are you guys using that have no disk file limit? I am using Hostway.
Thanks

Most webhosts do not enforce a "File Limit"; the fact that yours does makes them seem quite "green pocketed"; the majority of web hosts do not enforce a file limit, only a disk space limit.

Thanks Gizmo. Could you recommend any hosts? The only ones I have ever had are Hostway and Valueweb.
Thanks again.

Personally, I use http://ev1servers.net I've heard of people using http://www.futurequest.net but I don't have any personal experience with them. You should also inquire any new hosts to make sure they have the necessary support for the Next product, assuming you are wanting to upgrade to that. The preliminary info released about the new product states MySQL 4 as a requirement. Another place to check about UBB Friendly hosts is https://www.ubbdev.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php/forum/11.html There is honest feedback from UBB Users.

I concourr with ron on each point; I used to recommend HostNuke but they're not too friendly with UBB.Classic with popular forums anymore.

Technically the "next" product will be the one which is in the works right now; however if you wish to blow some money you could always upgrade to UBB.Threads which uses a MySQL database verses flat files for storage.
