I'm running a apache/linux server than can execute:
http://207.239.245.224/cgibin/hello.cgi

but can not execute:
http://207.239.245.224/cgi-bin/cpanel.cgi?action=variables

I get an error in my /httpd/logs/error_log saying:
no such file or directory

I am sure that it does exist. hello.cgi works.

Thanks a bunch. It does seem like I have a simlar problem to lots of posts on this site but I just can't seem to figure it out. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I get an 'internal server error' on the UBB cgi scripts. Look at this page for tips. (Your link to hello.cgi should have cgi-bin, not cgibin)

This error indicates that the path to perl listed at the top of the .cgi/.pl file is incorrect. Please refer to your web host's documentation for the proper path to perl...

both my hello.cgi and cpanel.cgi have paths to /usr/bin/perl. My hello.cgi had the same error in the error_log that I now only get with cpanel.cgi (and others), ie, "no such file or directory" when the path was wrong (ie /usr/local/bin/perl. I can run the cpanel.cgi with the -w switch and it runs. It only complains about some itialized strings.

I don't know why hello runs but the others dont.

The error can also come up when the files haven't been uploaded in ascii. Which FTP client are you using to upload? If CuteFTP, switch to WS_FTP as many people are having problems using CuteFTP for ascii upload.

i ftped the zip file over to a temp dir and unpacked it on the linux machine during a telnet session. Then just copied the files to where they needed to go and chmod'ed as needed (all during telnet sessions). I am using apache ver 1.3.14. I am starting to think that the problem lies somewhere in my setup of the webserver. Is there any other cgi script functions that I can try to help figure out what cgi function isn't working. Hello world seems to work fine.

When unzipping directly on the server you need to use the -a switch.
