Im trying to use the UBB on PWS 4.0 and I have installed perl 5. Do I have to be a programmer to install this? I dont know all the coding that you guys are talking about,.... pipe code? Anyway, is it possible for a total newbie with some knowledge intall UBB? (Mike.D, formerly HammerX)

Look at the NT Installation Page. There are complete instructions as well as troubleshooting and other links at the bottom. Be sure to install the freeware version first to be sure you can get it rolling on your machine.

If you need help along the way, post your questions as replies to this thread.

read the pws install instructions to get perl set up right. Next run the test scripts provided in the help folder of the ubb distribution. If you are still having problems, post the nature of the problem here, along with a link to your CP.

Just a thought <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hi Cal, I gave up on the PWS, mainly beacuse it only accepts 10 visitors at a time. I moved over to hypermart.net, I actually got the control panel working! NEW PROBLEM LOL! Well, in setting the absoulute paths, i thought i had them right but nope, when I go to enter username and pass i get this...

Sorry, but we couldn't find a record for the UserName you entered. Please try again.
If you are configuring your bulletin board for the first time, this is probably due to the fact that you did not set the proper variable for your CGI Directory absolute path.

Use your Back button to try again.

I clicked the link on there where it says enviromental variable ya know, tried that but i still go something wrong. Thanks for your help. Please help lol!

hypermart is a Unix server. Check the Unix install directions. Post the exact URL to your cp.html and one of us will take a look and see if we can set them for you.

I have set your paths and URLs using the user/pw from step 12 of the install instructions. Continue the setup now with special attention to steps 16 and 17 to set up a new admin. I made myself an admin for possible troubleshooting. As soon as you have everything working, delete my account using User Info and Permissions.

I was just wondering if www.virtualave.net uses Unix as well, because I can get to my cp.html page but when I click on General Settings I get the trusty old 404 error. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

BigSeph,

Please start a new topic in the Unix install instructions if you need help on virtualave. Post the exact URL to your cp.html. Be sure you edited the cplinks.html and made the proper entry in the <BASE HREF=""> line, not the example line.
