I had the evaluation version of the UBB working just fine. Then I installed the full version. It's not working right.

Admin5 can post messages. It takes about 2 1/2 minutes to submit though.

I cannot register a new user. It says the following:

"We are temporarily upgrading our Memberships. This process only takes a minute or two. Please try registering again in a couple of minutes. Thank you! "

Yes, I read the post about deleting those temp files and then changing permissions. Done. ASCII and Binary modes on the appropriate files. Done. Just like I did on the evaluation version. It still doesn't work. Considering what I just paid for this,

I'm surprised to see that the evaluation version performed better than the full version is at this point.

All of the admin functions are fast and work fine.

Oh.. and it's an NT machine, plenty of processor power and memory to go around (Don't construe that as an assertion that I like NT.)

The system is hosted on multiple, redundant high-speed connections (DS-3+) and I use it to stream live webcam feeds, among other things. I'm doubting (especially since the demo worked fine) that this is a problem with the webhost.

The Post Installation Troubleshooting forum is not for installation, upgrade, or move related issues. This thread is being moved to the Win32/NT Installation forum.

In the last couple hours, I deleted the full version of the UBB and I re-installed the demo. I got it working.

So (don't laugh too hard) I deleted the demo board and installed the full version yet again.. and no go.

Does it matter which of the two versions I downloaded from the members section? One lists /bin/perl and one lists /usr/bin/perl or something like that... Then again, I'm pretty sure this part does not matter under Windows NT.

Check your permissions. You need to make sure that you set "Change" as well as "Write" permissions.

Well, I have a web interface for the html directory which allows me to select the following permissions for each file:

Read, Write, Execute, Delete

Currently everything related to UBB is Read, Write, Execute.. and this works for the demo board.

Thank you for all your help and suggestions.

This product still does not work correctly under my software environment. I'm quite capable of reading previous threads and searching for a problem (perchance an "obvious" solution) similar to my own.

Since the "obvious" solutions have not been effective, I'm asking for the "right" solution which will actually make this work.

If and when it will ever work.

I understand that the board operators and regulars are uncompensated volunteers.

I'm just as aware of the expenditure of your valuable time, as I am aware of this egregious waste of my own money which has added no value to the functionality of my non-commercial website.

The lack of responses to my thread indicates to me that either 1) nobody cares about this particular problem, or 2) nobody's encountered this particular problem before.

Ack, my fault. I've been having cookie issues and i think i've skipped a few threads in the past week.

A few people seem to have had this problem in the last versions, but i can't reproduce it. Something different seems to solve it each time. If you contact me directly via ICQ (43903925) or email (cal@iamcal.com) then i shall endevour to get it working.

It's all part of the 'happy infopop' experience []http://www.scriptkeeper.com/ubb/tongue.gif[/]

Kristi at infopop was so kind as to fix the members directory for me. She hasn't replied to my request regarding specifically "what" she did to fix the members directory, but I did note the following:

Prior to infopop intervention:

UBB cgi located in /cgi-bin/
UBB non-cgi located in /cgi-bin/ubb/

After infopop intervention:

UBB cgi located in /cgi-bin/
UBB non-cgi located in /ubb/

So, hey, it works! Hurrah! Er, I think. Now the board is excruciatingly SLOW to post. Literally 2-3 minutes.

Again, it's a ballsy machine that streams video among other things and is on redundant DS3's.. It shouldn't throw such a fit about running a perl script, ya dar hey?

Is there anything I can do to improve the performance? At all? People don't post in forums if the response time is lagged severely.

Check out this thread: http://www.scriptkeeper.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/002460.html

As well as read, write and execute permissions, some win2k setups need to have 'change' permissions set as well, else you'll experience severe slowdown.

If you haven't already, it is also worth switching to the ISAPI version of perl. If you need help with that, just ask.
