OK... heres the problem. When I click on the General Settings link on the "cp.html" I get a "File Not Found" error message. I went to the FAQ and it said to make sure that I had it edited correctly and I am pretty sure that I have it correct. I am also pretty sure I have followed every step correctly in the installation process up to this point. Can someone please help me out here?

Please post the version you are installing and the exact URL to your cp.html. Be sure you edited the correct line for the BASE HREF in cplinks.html.

Using version:

Path to cp.html is:

http://www.centexfootball.com/ubb/cp.html

Any help is greatly appreciated!

The cgi-bin directory might be reserved by your host for system cgi scripts. Create a cgi-local directory and try running the scripts from there.

Also the line in cplinks.html for General Settings should not have been edited. Change it from

<A HREF="cpanel.cgi" target="CPMAIN">General Settings</A>

to

<A HREF="cpanel.cgi?action=variables" target="CPMAIN">General Settings</A>

I created the new directory "cgi-local" and uploaded all the files into it. Then, I edited the BASE HTML to read:

<BASE HREF="http://www.centexfootball.com/cgi-local/"

I changed the part that I wasn't supposed to edit back to the original also.

Now it is giving me an "Internal Server Error" message. What's going on?!

Do you have access to the error log? Ensure that all files except images have been uploaded in ascii, permissions are set correctly, and that the correct path to perl 5 is specified in the .cgi files.

If I may interject -- webjunkie could you also post a link to your web host's page? We can check their cgi faq (assuming they have one) for any peculiarities and/or proper execution of cgi on their servers.

I uploaded the files in ASCII. My host address is http://www.iperweb.com. I am almost positive I have followed all the directions to a "T". I am really getting frustrated. Once again, I really appreciate all your help.

According to your hosts FAQ's your cgi directory is at http://www.centexfootball.com/cgi-centexfootball/

However it says that it is used for the system cgi scripts which they list, but does not say whether you can install other 3rd party cgi scripts in that directory.

Which FTP client are you using to upload? Can you post a copy of your permissions here?

Okay, this one is really weird. I checked your host's cgi faq and, well its strange. Here's what you need to do. Upload all your files back to the cgi-bin directory, if they aren't still there.

Then change you BASE HREF in cplinks.html to read http://www.centexfootball.com/cgi-centexfootball/

Now I assumed you might have the files still installed in cgi-bin so I tried http://www.centexfootball.com/cgi-centexfootball/cpanel.cgi?action=variables and I now get a better error message which involves an error including the variables files. So, make sure you upload the four variables files in ASCII-only mode and to the cgi-bin directory.

OK.. I changed the base href... I thought that I had it uploaded in ASCII. How do I make sure that I have them uploaded? I am using CuteFTP.

Many people have been having problems using CuteFTP for ascii upload. Switch to WS_FTP and reupload all files except images in ascii.
