In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a HUGE ISSUE ... I decided to check out this feature tonight, and within the message of the e-mail, the "raw code" of the graemlin stood out. The same forum took ~45-50 minutes this evening <img src="/version7/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif" alt="" height="15" width="15" /> ~Sue adwoff.com

Well, just for kicks, I e-mailed the above message to myself, and maybe it will be an *issue* ... it seems as if the raw code appears wherever it's used--not just with the smilies. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a <span style='font-size: 20pt'>HUGE ISSUE</span> ...

Hmm, I'll need to figure out the best way to handle that. We could just go with mailing what the user actually typed, ie. the raw body of the post. Or possibly mail it in HTML format, which would require the css to be included as well. Will probably go with the 1st option for now and then maybe for 7.1 add in the ability for full HTML style emails for those using an email reader that will support it.

Plain text sounds like a good plan, Rick.

I dissagree (nicely) HTLM looks much better Standing out from the crowd.
I have HTML e-mails from my classic forums and there sweet. Members love them.
At first i liked the idea, of displaying the contents of the post in the e-mail. But now i'm not so sure? Its doesnt bring them back if its just a quick naff post. Where as with out would bring them back to the topic, but possibly have a browse around, as a thread catches there attention.
Or if you were to include what was posted, what about only the first 50 characters and then .............
My thoughts.

Not all mail clients accept html emails, requiring text only would increase scalibility.

We'll end up going text only for now. At some point we may add in the option for the user to specify which type of email they'd like to get (html or plaintext).
