We run UBB v5.47a on a W2K server (we are happy with our UBB software and are not planning to upgrade at this time).

We would like to run the Microsoft IIS Lockdown wizard and update the server to Service Pack 3.

Will this cause any problems with the UBB software?

You bet it will.

Before running it, take careful note of the permissions on the files and directories. You will need to restore the permissions (recursively / via directory inheritance (sp)) after the wizard has done its job.

When this is done, please upgrade to the latest release. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thank you for the information in the IIS Wizard. I need a confirmation that Windows 2000 SP3 is OK w/our versions.

Also, our Systems people tell me that the IIS Lockdown Wizard can be run in one of numerous different "template" modes such as "Dynamic Web Server (ASP enabled)," "Static Web Server (HTML only)," etc., etc. Does UBB recommend a particular template? Does UBB have any support documents or white papers available regarding the matter?

We haven't used IIS lockdown, so we don't really have a position of recommendation. However, we did have a customer who was working with Lockdown, but as I hear he wasn't able to post; it was because ACTION POST was turned off.
