It would be cool to be able to make text bold, or underlined, or inserting a link, etc...without having to use BBCode. Like when you make text bold in Micosoft Word it just does it without "code".

it would make editing posts, etc...faster and easier.

Just my thoughts.

I also think it would help make UBB.threads more "modern" when compared to other forum software such as XenForo.

Or maybe even having the option to use BBCode or not...that would be cool. smile

You can use buttons to bold italicize etc in the full editor. Use the reply button or the use full text editor button versus using the quick reply feature at the bottom of a thread.

That's just how our editor works at this junction.

The UBB pioneered UBBCode in the 90s, all other forums support some type of "BBCode" currently.

Logic has to be written to support this type of change, both in an editor as well as in the backend; that's a lot of focus for little reward.

Even when you use microsoft word or wordperfect it is not a pure text file it does embed formatting code in the text and each one is proprietary.
I think in this instance you can see the code but with other processors you don't unless with a special keystroke to reveal the code.
I do not think we could ever accommodate every variation.

That is why a copy paste from a word processor does not display the formatting used with same while posting
