I noticed yesterday, and so did a member today, that we cannot upload attachments to PTs like we can to normal posts. I'd really like to see this functionality added if possible... cool

Could be cool if providing private support...

Agreed.

The ability to send attachments (especially images) in Private Messages should be available.

Any consideration being given for this?

Could be a good idea, but the option to switch it off,
or limits to how many per post, or its open for abuse wink

'eh, i can find many possible abusive aspects... Immagine, files being uploaded to your server, in conversations you can't see, that you'd otherwise be responsible for... yikes..

Call me naive, but I'd rather give my users features, than worry about abuse.

PORN !

As in you could if your were smart or sadistic
upload pretty much anything you wanted,

hotlink to it, and your just robbing bandwidth all the way
and in time valuble file space.

Not to mention the pictures of your mum coming from your
server lol...

We could do with an upload gallery so we can see
easily what's been uploaded.

Or

In a perfect world it wouldnt happen,
but if it did you would want to remove that feature.

How else would you trak it ?

hope you have the webspace and bandwidth to back that statement up :x...

Keep in mind, unless you have .htaccess definitions setup to block offsite linkers you can end up with people registering just to dump files and link to third party websites... And best of all, in a PT no staff can see it, until you notice a bw skyrocket wink...

I can appreciate what you are saying and do see your point.

I guess I feel the majority of my users who PM each other would be sharing images amongst themselves, not using my site in the way you describe.

A possible solution could be allowing admin control over the number of images (or total size) a person could have stored in their private topics. Sort of like the current controlable limit on the number of Private Topics a person can have.

Would have to be something for a per user basis.
