I am not shure if you call them extended characters, but nevertheless. These are the ones I mean; åäö ÅÄÖ turn up to be distorted like åäö ÅÄÖ in the preview window, but once posted they look fine. Any ideas? I am still running an inferior version of Mysql, but will soon upgrade. May this fact affect the phenomena?

This SHOULD be fixed in 7.0.2 as an AJAX issue

I think we're going to have to switch the content type for the ajax scripts to UTF-8. This seems to fix it, but needs testing.
If you'd like to test on your install just change scripts/previewpost.inc.php. Line 79 looks like this:
header("Content-Type: text/html; charset={$ubbt_lang['CHARSET']}");
Change that, to this:
header("Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8");

Thanks! I made the suggested change in scripts/previewpost.inc.php and the problem was gone. Å i åa ä e ö (Deep hillbilly Swedish for "And in the river there is a island")

Ok, it sounds unanimous then. It looks like we'll be making this change for 7.1.

Not sure if this is related...
I often copy/paste the double-arrows from Control Panel into posts, like this:
Control Panel » Forum Settings
When I Preview post, it NOW looks like this (here):
Control Panel » Forum Settings
Altho it displays fine when I actually post it.
And interestingly, when I Preview the second one, with the  in it, it displays this even more crazy in
Control Panel » Forum Settings
(Click Quote and then Preview to see what I mean)
My 7.0 board is fine.
GangsterBB.NET (Ver. 7.6.1.1) PHP Version 5.6.40 / MySQL 5.7.23-23 (was 5.6.41-84.1) / Apache 2.4.54 2007 Content Rulez Contest - Hon Mention UBB.classic 6.7.2 - RIP

Well I've noticed even in 6.5.1 Threads that the POST vs PREVIEW do not always view/post the same look.
Curious why that happens. Why doesn't Preview have the exact same view as a Post does every time?
