Released in late 1988, this model is a landmark piece of tech history—marking Compaq’s very first laptop-style system to feature an internal battery-powered hard drive and a built-in grayscale VGA LCD screen.

Compaq SLT/286 Laptop (Model 2680):

Testing & Functional Status - SOLD AS IS / FOR REPAIR:
- Power Testing: When plugged into the wall and connected to the proprietary port, the unit does not power on or respond. There are no fan sounds, hard drive whines, or active indicator lights on the front panel. The battery was pulled and shows no signs of corrosion. The leaves me to believe there may be a problem with the power adapter.
- Cosmetic Condition: The computer and bag are as I found them. The bag is a little dusty on the outside but the computer and accessories are relatively clean for their age. The 10-inch backlit display is physically excellent. It is completely clear and shows no signs of "vinegar syndrome" or polarization decay. The chassis is in great structural shape with no cracks. The alphanumeric keys show uniform, expected amber-yellowing of the ABS plastics, which is authentic to its age. This unit was well cared for. Everything is clean and orderly.
Because the unit does not power on, this entire lot is being sold strictly AS-IS for parts, repair, or restoration. No returns or partial refunds will be accepted.
