Makita ADP002G 40Vmax XGT USB Adapter - USB-PD 105W, BODY previous USB adapters could charge a phone. This one charges alaptop.
That is the difference the ADP002G makes over the ADP001G it replaces. Theold unit had a single USB-A port at 5 V / 2.4 A - enough to keep a phonealive slowly, and nothing more. The new one adds a USB-C port supporting USBPower Delivery at up to 105 W, which puts a laptop, a tablet, and a fast-charging phone all within reach of a tool battery.
The practical consequence is that an XGT battery becomes a power bank youalready own. On site, that means charging a laptop or a phone withoutfinding an outlet. Away from work, it means the same battery that runs yourtools also runs your devices - which is the reason these adapters end up invehicles, at campsites, and in emergency kit rather than only in tool bags.
USB-C and USB-A can be used simultaneously. A power button switches it onwith a green indicator, and an auto-off function stops it draining thebattery when nothing is connected. Rubber caps protect both ports when notin use.

THIS IS GOOD NEWS FOR SHIPPINGBecause no battery ships with the adapter, there is no lithium battery inthis package, and because no charger ships either, there is no Japanese 100V mains adapter involved. No transformer, no plug adapter, and no voltageconcern of any kind.
40Vmax AND XGT ARE THE SAME PLATFORMMakita markets this battery system as 40Vmax in Japan and as XGT in mostexport markets. They are the same batteries. If you own Makita XGT tools,your batteries fit this adapter.
Note that this adapter does NOT accept Makita 18 V LXT batteries. Makitaproduces a separate adapter, the ADP15, for the 18 V and 14.4 V platform.
USE A PROPER USB-PD CABLE FOR HIGH POWER OUTPUTReaching the full output requires a cable rated for it. An ordinary USB-Ccable will limit the current regardless of what the adapter can supply.Makita offers a 1.0 m USB-PD cable as part number A-79843; any correctlyrated third-party cable also works.
Charging speed and maximum output depend on the connected device and thecable. Makita does not guarantee charging of every USB device or laptop.
THIS DOES NOT CHARGE THE MAKITA BATTERYMakita states this explicitly and so do I: the adapter draws power FROM thebattery. It cannot charge the battery, and it is not a substitute for aMakita charger.
RUN TIME DEPENDS ON THE BATTERYMakita's reference figure is approximately five smartphone charges from a2.5 Ah BL4025. A larger capacity battery gives proportionally more. If youintend to charge a laptop, a higher capacity battery is the practicalchoice.
OPERATING TEMPERATURESpecified for 0 to 40 degrees C. This is a working range, not a storagerange - but do not expect full performance in freezing conditions.
