New LG WH14NS40 14X Blu-ray drive flashed to v1.02 firmware.
This 5.25" optical drive, which currently ships from LG with non-UHD compatible v1.05 firmware- has been flashed by myself to an older version of the LG firmware (v1.02) which allows the drive to read UHD/ 4K Blu-ray discs.
Each flashed v1.02drive has then been tested to work with both standard Blu-ray and UHD / 4K Blu-ray discs prior to shipping. Do not update the firmware on the drive, as you will return it to a non-UHD friendlystate.
This drive is flashed with proper WH14NS40 1.02 firmware, whereas other sellers are flashing firmware from WH16NS40 drives, which may not be compatible in all situations. See image 3 for reference.
This drive will burnBlu-ray discs at speeds up to 14X.
This drive will allow you to read 4K / UHD Blu-ray discs- but ONLY if you have the rest of the necessary hardware and software.There are other hardware and software requirements for playing/accessing/backing up UHD / 4K / Blu-ray discs.Windows 10 will not access or play 4K / UHD / Blu-ray discs without purchasingand installing additional software. This drive is only one part of the chain.You are responsiblefor satisfyingall of those other software and hardware requirements to achieve playback or backup.I have had success with all movies using these drives- but I cannot guarantee every movie will play or be rippable with these drives.
