Here is a minitower PC originally built by Dell in June of 2000. I have replaced the CMOS battery, upgraded the processor from a 500 MHz Celeron to a 700 MHz Pentium III, replaced the modem with an ethernet card, replaced a bad CD-ROM with a working CD-RW, wiped and tested the 10GB hard drive, and performed a fresh install of Windows 98SE with all drivers. Everything else is original equipment and is still working. It is now ready to install your favorite applications, from floppy diskette, CD, network, or from a USB flash drive.This small micro ATX tower case has an 85W power supply that swivels out to create access to the motherboard. There is only one empty drive bay, an exposed 3.5" bay.Inside the case is an Intel CA810 motherboard with the 810E chipset and a 700 MHz socket 370 Pentium III processor and cooling fan. There are two 168-pin DIMM sockets for RAM up to 512MB. I include a 128MB PC-100 DIMM with one socket available.
Dell's motherboard has four PCI expansion slots, two of which are still empty. One PCI slot is filled with a D-Link 10/100 ethernet card Another PCI slot has a Creative CT5803 Sound Blaster Audio PCI with a joystick/MIDI port.
The motherboard's chipset includes onboard Intel graphics. Dell also included two PS/2 ports, two USB 1.1 ports, one DB9 serial port and and one parallel port.
The original 1.44MB floppy drive and Western Digital 10GB IDE hard drive are all still working as designed. The hard drive is partitioned as a single C: drive with no bad sectors. It boots into a clean install of Windows 98 SE with no problems. I added a Hitachi/LG 16x 10x 40x CD burner, but you will need to find your own CD burning software.
