This listing is for an extremely rare 1989 nCube2 silicon wafer in excellent condition. This wafer is 4" in diameter and has a number of complete computer CPU chips on it.
The chips are nCube2 microprocessors. These 14mm square chips are huge compared other chips of its time.
Easily viewable under even a modest USB microscope.

Why this piece is special

• Birth of Massively-Parallel Computing– the nCUBE-2 powered the first commercial 13-dimensional hyper-cube supercomputers, beating Cray’s scalar giants at certain tasks in the late-80 s.

• Custom Silicon, Handful Survive– only nCUBE’s own fabs produced this 1 µm, bi-metal CMOS part (~500 000 transistors). Almost all working chips were permanently mounted in multi-node boards; Whole CPU Wafers like this are virtually unseen outside museums.

• Silicon Artwork– the die proudly carries the 3-D “tesseract” cube logo and © 1989 wafer-scribes. Under a loupe or microscope you can explore on-chip SRAM blocks, ALU arrays and the 28-channel network router that made the hyper-cube possible.
