The simple-minded person hasn't the faintest idea they're being belittled.

How do you think your users would feel to be described in this fashion?
When I first saw this on my forum - populated by major intellects and regular joes. (n.b. - not
from major to regular) - I used to think that I should step in and help.
But then I reconsidered.
Hey, they are grown ups aren't they?
They need to be able to look after themselves.
(ok - with moderation if need be.)
They do this just because they can! This type of behavior burns me up in a split second.
It's human nature, isn't it?
1. Delete their degrading post
2. Send them a PM to re-edit their post
3. Ban them
Well, that's always a difficult call.
1) I would prefer to 'moderate' rather than delete.
2) I would PM to 'suggest' calming down their post (with a 'veiled' threat re: playing nice &/or suspending their account)
3) LAST resort.
Users need to feel they can 'gob off' or 'let rip' into a debate without the immediate threat of Banning (unless of course you need to implement a zero tolerance policy).
Obviously - just my thoughts - but I hope something here helps in some small way.
