Well have not tried Trillian in over a year but considering my young adult kids no longer use it due to missing features (which was a complaint of mine before as well for all the knock off replacements) I can not endorse them.
They're okay I suppose for basic chat but if you try some of the more advanced features they did not support them (not sure of now days though)
Live, Yahoo, AIM original clients, but rarely use them. If I use one it's typically Live Messenger
