To be honest, I have no idea how to make sure MySQL has been properly tuned, and I also have no idea about this:
Another thing is if you have SSH access to the server and if it's a Linux box then when you get the slowdowns you can run the 'top' command to get some info on what all is going on at that particular time
Is there a way to check?
While I'm no way an expert on any of this--in fact, most of this programming is absolutely Greek to me--I am able to follow directions fairly well.
