I use another package, and when ever there is an upgrade, I click a button, my CP has all the ftp stuff, and it updates the software, I think of that everytime I update threads...
While we will be doing some stuff via internal FTP in version 8, permissions, etc. doing upgrades this way is a bit tough. If we were free software it would be easy peasy. Since we're not, there would need to be some sort of authentication layer so a bit more involved.
Not saying that it's out of the question that we'll do that someday, it's just there would be a few extra hurdles for us.
