This is true. I made the move a few years ago and started with dual boot. It really isnt that bad of a transition at all. I only use windows for a few programs, like photo shop and dreamweaver for making templates.
The backup of my ubuntu system takes about 20 min. And if something goes south, type in a cmd and in about 30 min the computer is back 100% from the backup.
