Hi, I'm using an old 6.5.x versions of ubbhreads still! Really need to upgrade it!
As part of planning a whole new site, I need a new ISP, upgrade the forums on the new ISP to the latest version etc.
But what I need is o arrive at a solution with the forums AND an e-magazine or blog for articles type setup. Perhaps using a wordpress setup with the forums. A better solution would be if the new forums could do the lot.
So some questions please.
1. Can someone suggest any existing sites where the whole site is using just the forums? So I can have a look at what they are doing.
2. Obviously the portal could be used as a "blog" for articles. But it will get way too long very quickly. Any ideas on this?
3. Can other pages be integrated somehow into the forums setup?
4. Does this ubbcentral site use just the forums? ie with the menu at the top leading to pages etc? Or is it using other pages attached with the forums/community?
Ideally the e-magazine will be able to: - wish list only for information
1. Have a blog listing of all new articles in release order
2. Have a contents page where articles can be group in order, category, type etc, where a link leads to a listing or sub listing
3. Index
4. Search feature
5. Articles will be able to integrate a forums thread for comments and discussion
6. Be easy to share an article to facebook pages, groups, twitter etc etc for added distribution
7. Articles could be pre-written but not published publicly until a particular date
8. Preferably multiple authors can write articles, but preferably with a editor/publisher approval feaure
9. Integrated images in articles
10. Good formatting of text in articles.
11. Other stuff I haven't thought of yet.
Obviously all of this might not be possible. Putting it up if someone responding knows or can comment.
I would consider some sort of emagazine software along with the forums if needed. Great if they were integrated together.
Any assistance appreciated. Particularly any existing sites which may already be doing some or all of this. Thanks.
