Hey

The URL of my forum is: http://www.soccergaming.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro

and it is version 5.47d
and everytime a user clicks on Post A New Topic or Reply the postings.cgi link goes to a blank white screen. There are no hacks installed.

If you could help it would be very much appreciated

Your board has several hacks installed. Restore the unmodifed scripts and see if the problem clears. Then reinstall the hacks, one-at-a-time until you find the problem code.

(That is not a stock UBB. If you did not install the hacks, someone else did before you got it.)

Lior, Hal is correct, I have been able to identify at least three distinct hacks on your board just from a first glance.

It is near impossible to troubleshoot boards with hacks installed as their behavior can be unpredictable.

An easy thing to check is the permission on the postings.cgi file, make sure its 755. You can also try deleting postings.cgi from your host, then re-upload in ASCII only mode, and recheck the 755 permission. If that doesn't work you'll need to revert back to an unhacked version of UBB for further assistance.

Update: Did all guys, reuploaded files and all but still to no avail.. still I receive a white screen

Did your host make any system changes like installing a new version of Perl? Recheck all permissions and the perl path(again!).

If you are sure your permissions are okay, go to General Settings from the control panel and run the socket test in the first full paragraph. If it fails, there is a link for a temporary fix while you get your host to install Socket.pm

Added:

The site www.soccergaming.com runs Apache/1.3.6 (Unix) (Red Hat/Linux) mod_perl/1.19 on Linux

If it does turn out to be a socket problem and you are using sendmail, the 'fix' will not affect your mail. If you are using SMTP, you will have to switch to sendmail until Socket.pm is loaded.

Did you check all your file permissions? When you reuploaded, the files probably did not retain their permissions. If its not that then I think you should have Infopop look at your board by filling out a trouble ticket, select UBB Malfunctions from the drop-down list.

Permissions are all set and the socket test works. No new server changes have been done.

I'll guess I have to fill in that support ticket
