I've had my board installed for around a year now with no problems, but a week or two we started getting postings that were all garbage characters/gibberish. At first I thought it was an obnoxious poster, but after some testing it now appears that postings are automatically being displayed as garbage characters. How can I fix this? Our URL is http://www.jinxmagazine.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi . It's UBB 6.0.5.

What you're seeing is a bug in the censor list in 6.05. Go through the censor list and make sure that there are ONLY alphanumeric characters and curly braces ( { and } ). Any other characters can cause the censor to do weird things to posts. Also, make sure there is one and ONLY one space between each entry. The old code is very picky.

A fix was placed in 6.1 that prevented troublesome characters from being entered. The latest beta release, 6.6, allows the characters and handles them safely. I suggest upgrading. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
