Hi there i'm trying to understand the best way forward with Ubb Clasic 6.6.1 ?

I set up my web site using frames and everyhting seems to work ok except for one thing? The Home URL issue which i have a sperate thread running.

What is the offical line from Info Pop as to the UBB and frames or Use the Table (Side bar)
What are the pros and cons of these methods?
Any one else using frames or found any problems with frames?
Or should i give up the frames and concentrate on the side bar?

I'm new to UBB but need to sort out my foundations before i have to really re do my site (Remove my frames).

What's the word what is my way forward please.

oops wrong forum? UBB please move sorry.

Here's a thread about the sidebar

https://www.ubbdev.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi/ubb/get_topic/f/17/t/000879

I've heard on a number of occasions that running UBB in a frame isn't recommend as it can cause unusual behavior. Even if you were able to hack the UBB to do it, it would make upgrades a PITA.

I would really like to hear from Ubb Clasic v6.6.1 Development and there thoughts?

Or i might have to raise a ticket?
To find out there views from the top!

And possibley some of the errors Frames might cause?
As mine seems to be running sweet..
just a little url problem that could be resolved.
but being on the inside so to speak i dont know what problems this could be causing others.

As to the upgrade i cant see that being a problem?
As my forum is in its own directory and icolated.

What i have is a main page.
in this main page i have 2 frames.
1 frame being the menu to pages
2 being the main page
so if a user clicks on FORUMS there taken to my ubbclasic.cgi in frame 2 (main frame).

And it seems to be running ok.

But i would like to know if this approach can cause problems for future releases or would it be incorporated in futre releases?

What's my best way forward?
Any offical word from Infopop Please?
As i havent seen or read any documention regarding this area?

Just a reminder i'm all new to Ubb Clasic and would like to future proof my self for the future...

but please list any errors/problems you may have come across using frames as it seems between the lines Ubb dont like Frames but i would like an offical what's best..

Thanks for taking the time to help me.

Look, if we tell you here that running UBB in frames is not recommended, it means we heard it from Infopop, not made it up. So you really don't need Infopop to reiterate what Ron already told you. Frames are a no-no. End of story.

I can confirm that operating the board within frames is not recommended and is unsupported.
