UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums UBB.threads 6 Version 6 Support Microsoft SQL or MySQL?

Sorry if this has been discussed already, I can't find it using the search feature.

We will be installing UBB Threads shortly, just purchased a standard license agreement.

2 years ago MySQL was the only supported SQL server.

We use Microsoft's SQL Server for all of our stuff (currently) and it would be great to be able to use what we are familiar with.

Is this supported yet or do we have to still use MySQL?

At this time MySQL is still the only supported database. The main issue that we need to overcome in order to support other types of database servers is that they handle some things quite differently. It's something we'd like to do at some point but it takes pretty much full time development just to keep up with the features that everyone wants.

Shouldn't they all handle SQL queries the same way? When I installed this before I remember I was able to use standard SQL queries with MySQL. I couldn't get MicroSoft's enterprise manager to connect to MySQL, but I didn't spend a lot of time on it.

I did make an interface to transfer data from Microsoft's SQL to MySQL so I could interconnect usernames and passwords for both the website and the forums.

It is more than just the queries. PHP uses specific commands to execute queries for different DB's (Reference: http://php.net/mssql and http://php.net/mysql ). You would need to rewrite all of the db handler routines to talk to Microsoft SQL.
