Hmmm, not much suggestions lately. I feel it is time to suggest features for 6.6 The following features I would like to see in version 6.6 are: - Sub-Forums
- Spider-friendly user proflie pages (in 6.5, only the forums and threads have a spider friendly URL)
- If a user does not have permission to use Remind Me, Notify Moderator, and e-mail post; those icons should removed instead of showing an unclickable icon
- If a user does not have permission to use the features in the user profile (send a PM, add to address book, show all user's posts, and ignore user); those buttons should be removed instead of grayed out
- In the forums, when there is no previous or next pages, the previous and next buttons should not display at all rather than being grayed out
- Show a navigation bar with a globe, city, house, and thread icon that goes down to thread level. Idea from The Highway discussion board
- Add a users online window to the main index and the forums that displays the users browsing the main index or forum
- Since 6.5 uses a new way of searching, there should be another refinement. In 6.6, the search results should be in numbered pages.
- Add a new e-mail UBBCode in the form of Email Me
- Make Reply With Quote quote usernames in the form of "Originally Posted by (user)"
- Add a pagination routine for pages in the user list
- In threaded view, put the entire thread box into a scrollbar window. This would be ideal for long threads.

I need to have forum uploads set on a board by board basis. Some boards set to Yes and people can upload there Others set to No and they can't upload there
So easy, but I am tired of hacking it in and would like to go "stock"

Oh, I forgot:
Include a PM outbox rather than requiring a read receipt to know when a user reads a PM (like in UBB.classic)
I hope Rick reads this.

And if you wanted to get really amazing and shock people, make the PMs like classic - or a flat style conversation between 2 people.
Having 20 pms for the same conversation with quoting and requoting gets obnoxious.
(Sorry if I'm requesting too much lately, I'm just being more vocal about things cause I notice that yall really do take into consideration what we suggest. )

Here is a new idea: On closed or moved threads, there should be grayed buttons that display [] https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/icons/lock.gif[/] Closed on every post where the reply, quote, and quick reply buttons are normally shown. This suggestion would make it less confusing for newbies.

Why not remove the buttons altogether?

Actually, I find it better if you see a grayed button that says closed. As you can see in this UBB.classic thread , you see the [] https://www.ubbcentral.com/ubb/lock.gif[/] icon and text that says "Topic Closed" where the reply button is normally found. My idea would make it easier for newbies to know that a thread is closed. Move threads should be the same, other than the "this thread has been moved" link.

One more final suggestion, there should be a built in import utility like in UBB.classic and eve. They currently support imports from Infopop products, vBulletin, and Invision. I think this would be a great thing to put into UBB.threads.

I completely agree!!! I would LOVE to have an "import utility". I actually need it a lot, and I think ubbthreads(infopop) needs it a lot too!
I'm planning on going out and buying up some small but active forums (vbulletin and Invision) and add them to my own forum. Call me expansionist. But I don't know how to import.... <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Can't do the importer for 6.6, sorry. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
(because it's coming in 6.5 <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> )

I'd like to suggest that admins can change user's PD names from the edit profile page.

I would like to suggest that: When you are browsing in flat mode with the expanded view, that if you click a reply, that it jumps to that reply. Similiar to the behaviour of the last post link.

That's actually how it is supposed to work - but there was a bug with it in 6.4.1 that the post anchor wasn't causing it to jump down.
Actually - I may have found a 6.5 bug. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I would just like to add that as far as Sub-Forums go, most of us would be happy with either Sub-Forums or Sub-Catagories.
I only bring this up because it has been debated at Threadsdev. The important thing is that we want another layer in the hiearchle(sp) structure.

1) It would be nice if users could enter their affiliate code via the config settings (so it appears in the footer) , instead of editing the ubbt_footer.tmpl template. Some end users are a lil skiddish when it comes to editing things.
2) Forum permission text is accurate for all that view it. If someone cannot post in a forum, the text reflects it. Classic has this feature.

agree - photopost has this - you can enter your affiliate link in your config file. And this works two fold for infopop - if more people want to use the affiliate program, more threads licenses get sold - and people are less likely to remove their copyright notice. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I'm pretty new to Threads after using Classic for several years. There are a few things that would make life easier:
1) Notice of new registration e-mail to admin should have more information; username, login, UID for new registrant.
2) Approve New Users should list registration requests in order of receipt (in 6.4.1 they seem randomly ordered).
3) Send login information to member button on "show/edit users" admin page.
4) Ability to prevent non-members from using search.
5) Ability to prevent non-registered viewers from accessing members' profile.
6) Ability to include note of explanation in moderator alerts so the moderator can understand the reason for the alert.
7) In Show/Edit user search results, it would be nice to have a feature allowing "display all member's posts" which displayed links and source IP for each post.

Forum archive function to set permissions to read only for members and guests. We can do this now one forum at a time, but it would be nice to be able to do this by category. this way any forum in that category is an archive.

I'm going to quote "little joe" on this one:
[] This is one feature from Classic I sorely miss. I'd like to have the ability to lock a user's profile. The user could still post, but could not make any changes to his/her profile.
We need this b/c some people cannot follow our simple guidelines so we need to manage the habitual offenders (ie sig files, avatar size, PM abuse). [/]
...really miss that feature. Jen

The topic titles on the forum are truncated. It would be nice if we could mouseover and see the full title. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

My home/Main configuration: New users are having trouble, trying to click on the words, such as:
"Preference/number of threads shown" instead of the word "Edit" which is on the right of that line.
Even then, they try to click on the pencil graphic, which is also not a hyperlink.
Might be nice if the words were hyperlinked, to avoid this newbie confusion.
Also, an explanation in the temp e mail password would be nice, that a temporary password is just that: Temporary. An explanation of how to set a permanent password in the e mail that is sent out with the temp password, would avoid many users writing in that they have to get a temp password each time. I'm tired of explaining it.. over, and over, and over... <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

vBulletin 3 has finally gone gold. I'm wondering if the importer included is vBulletin 3 ready. vBulletin 3 has influenced me in what should get in UBB.threads in the future. The most interesting for the future would be a dynamic interface (which should be in 7.0). Here are some images of future ideas for UBB.threads based on the eve interface.

A couple little things about buttons ...
I'd like to have a "reply" button below each post. On long posts, scrolling back up to the top seems like extra work.
Also, I don't have a good suggestion (other than reading more clearly) but I find I click the "edit" button more often than not, when I want to reply to a post. I'd like something to more clearly visually distinguish those buttons.

How long has it been until 6.5? The dev beta has been stuck at dev9.
Also, who rated me two stars?

Back to suggestions: Concerning polls, a new option while creating a poll "User can change the vote", if option is set users can always change their vote to that poll. And also ability for admin to edit polls.

Okay, so 6.5 is here! I like your idea Rutto. Unfortunately, subforums are not going to make it into 6.6. Concerning the 6.5 importer though, in 6.6 there should be added support for the following products: - vBulletin 3
- phpBB
- Ikonboard
- XMB

I would like to make a motion to have the "My Home" or profile an extreme makeover to resemble the new Control Panel. It would make it less confusing for newbies.

Many of the "Feature Settings - General" item would make most sense to be dependent on groups then you can give different groups more features. This will be a big request for those who use the MyPaymentPal.

Totally agree with what ocean just said! It'd be super nice if user groups had different access levels to features and not just forums.

when setting up a forum there is a new option to disable/enable a forum it would be nice to have a check box to enable a "teaser" forum where when checking you would have an alternate forum title, description field and perhaps an avatar. In addition a Permissions that determine what groups would see the teaser.

The more I play with this I just love the new features but again Many of these items in feature settings and General settings need to be Group dependent.
