Howdy,

I'm running UBB v. 6.3.1.1 and just upgraded from a shared server running IIS 5.0 to IIS 6.0 on a dedicated server. I'm running into HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied error issues at login and with replies to posts when I can login.

I read Ericj's post from 10-24-03 regarding Perl and I'll check the GET,PUT to GET,POST settings.

Any issues specific to IIS 6.0?

Beyond making sure that Perl itself is accepted as an executable in IIS6's new script restriction area (I can't get to our local IIS6 box at the moment to dig up exact instructions), you should make sure that the directory as mapped in IIS has script execution permission, and that the IUSR_ account for the machine has execute rights on the files.

I believe that this is a server issue entirely and when I'm setting the ubb folders to "Scripts & Executables" from within IIS6 that for some reason, the permissions only "apply" onto some of the files inside the ubb folders when I click Apply...as you can see, many functions of the forum work fine, but others do not...and the cgi files are all located in the same folder..

I believe that it might work if I performed an entirely new installation of the UBB into new folders with the correct permissions set ahead of time, and then moved all my current members, forums, and topics into those folders.

I can go with my best guess as to which files and folders are necessary to swap out, but it'd be nice to know for sure. Can you give me a clue?

The last time I saw this error, it was indeed a case of POST not being mapped right somewhere, which is what the post by EricJ mentioned. If you've done this, yet things do still fail, then I would advise trying a second install and seeing if it fails in the same way.

I suspect that this is an IIS thing rather than a real file permissions thing...
