A user of my forum gets a Forbidden You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi on this server error, simply by posting the following paragraph:
Vito: "Don Barzini, I want to thank you for helping me organize this ... meeting here today. And also the other heads of the Five Families .... New York and New Jersey. Carmine Corleone from the Bronx .... and ah .... Brooklyn .... Philip Tattaglia. And from Staten Island, we have with us Victor Strachi. And all the other associates that came as far as from California, and Kansas City, and all the other territories of the country -- thank you".
Seeing if it happens here as well...
I get the error, too! But everthing else we post goes through just fine! <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Edit: It worked here. I don't get it!

This could be caused by a security script on the server reading a "string" for spam blocking/hack attempts; does your webhost have error logging enabled for your site? If so I highly recommend that you look through the error log to see what the exact error is being published in the logs.

Hi Gizmo -
I just checked the log, and the only errors in there are due to the fact that I don't have a custom error page set up ("File does not exist: /home2/gbb/public_html/403.shtml") cuz I'm lazy. Nothing telling me why I wouldn't have "permission to access" anything...
Why this line from The Godfather? <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> Why ONLY this line from The Godfather? LOL
I thought maybe there could be a hidden control-character in there or something, but I've copied/pasted it into EditPad and back again, and didn't notice anything besides straight ASCII. I cannot think of any other reason!!

well, when I worked for a webhost not too long ago we had updated our security on servers to detect sertain strings, and got a few quite anal lists; during inital testing users posting even "daemon" on a forum got a 403 error as it was being told by the security script to abort... This is likely the issue here but it's odd that it's not being dumped into your error log if it is the case...

I'll ask ASO about such security and see if that could be the case... hopefully not.
Thanks!

It's always good to check, to make sure that's an issue or not...
