Hello,

My UBB Classic version is 6.7.3 and my community is located at http://www.broncotech.com/cgi-bin/ulimatebb.cgi

I recently deleted some "spam" registrations on this site (I deleted about 11 bogus users) and now I seem to have a problem. I am the first member (owner) on the board. For some reason, when I go to my profile to look at my private messages, nothing shows up? It's completely blank. I had some unread PMs in my profile and have since accumulated some new ones, but like I can't read them.

I have deleted all cookies, logged in and out, and tried to view my PMs from three different computers all on different ISPs, all to no avail.

Should I perform some maintenance in the control panel, such as "rebuilding member metadata"?

BTW, no other members have reported any problems (not yet anyway).

Thanks in advance for any advice,
Kind regards,
Paul.

You have a PM to or from one of the users that you deleted still in your box. Probably a welcome PM. In that case, more than likely more than one, now that I think about it. You're likely the only user on the board with that problem.

I don't actually remember how to fix it since I haven't touched a classic board in a couple of years. I just remember what caused it. I'll ask around and see what I can find.

You could try to open (via FTP):
MemberDirectory -> PM Users -> 00000001.cgi

Then start validating the pm's, nuking those that don't exist or are welcome messages... That'd be a good first step I'd think.

The indexes in the files tell yu where the pm's are in the pm's directories.

Hmm, yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

Those "bogus" users would have had a "welcome" PM from me, automatically generated when they registered.

Sounds like this could be the cause. Ok, I will login via FTP and validate my PMs.

I'll let everyone know how it works.

Regards,
Paul.

Hi everyone,

Just some feedback, validating the PMs fixed the problem. I just discovered that one other members seems to have been affected by this, so my next step is to validate his PM box and everything should be good.

Kind regards,
Paul.
