Hi there,
Now that I've successfully upgraded to version 7, and all of my tables are UBBT_, is there any reason I can't delete all of the old WT3_ tables?
Thanks, Tracy

BTW, I just looked through the W3T_ tables, and four of them have been updated SINCE the upgrade. The upgrade was done Oct. 25, 2006; the tables in question have all been updated on Nov. 10th, 2006. Nothing since, and not sure that I remember anything that would cause phpMyAdmin to be showing a table update on Nov. 10th for those tables.
The tables in question are: W3T_Online W3T_Posts W3T_SearchResults W3T_Users

Yes, if you have everything imported and no longer need the older version, you can delete the old tables.
As for some of them being updated. Is the old version still active? It's possible some people may have some of the scripts bookmarked and accessing them which would update the old version if it's not closed.

is your old board reachable? Open or closed? Do you use the redirector scripts?

I didn't do anything but the basic upgrade. I don't see how the board would be reachable considering it uses the same URL and control panel as the upgraded one.

In the new version everything goes through the ubbthreads.php script. In the old version people access things like showflat.php/showthreaded.php which would still be querying against the old database. So, it's more than likely people with old bookmarks, or people coming from search engine links.
Make sure you setup the redirect scripts that come in the importer zip, that will redirect the main ones to the new forums.

It'd also be good if you deleted all of the old ubb.t files (keeping only the new ones)

OK, so I did the re-directs... now I assume I'm safe to go ahead and delete the w3t tables?
Thanks for the help, BTW. I'm not that great of a database person and it makes me nervous to delete entire tables!

I hold my old tables active because I do some reviews of old user settings such counter and stylesheet.
I prefer a sql export before deleting the tables.

Well I noticed things that were being accessed and not being familiar with all the inner workings of the code I created an all new database and used that to do the import from the old database. Cleaner that way I think.

I think that if you're sophisticated enough to know that the tables are still being accessed you're also sophisticated enough to backup the tables before deleting them. Right?

Yes, but just don't like it being cluttered that way.
I really don't like the way 7.02 is upgraded myself. It is not clean at all (imho)
Later on I'll post my "wish list" of the upgrade process.

I created an all new database and used that to do the import from the old database. Thats what I did on a couple of my sites; though i like to keep things seperate (my code seperate from forum database)
