I am working with a test site of the new Threads (7.02). I can't seem to find where I add subcategories (or subtopics) to my boards. Here is the curret status. I have installed 7.02 to my backup server and imported all the data from my working server ((6.5.5)

What I want to do is the following:
Have a category called "Post your picks" and then have SUB-categories within that for FOOTBALL, BASEBALL, BASKETBALL....etc etc. Can someone give me a jumpstart so I can start wrking with this problem?

Thanks

Musky

Control Panel » Forum Settings » Add New Forum » Forum Basics » Parent:

"If you choose a forum as the parent, this forum will be made a subforum."

So if you create forums for football, baseball, etc, you'd just assign the "Post Your Picks" forum as the Parent for each.

Simple as:
1. Create a Category.
2. Create a Forum.
3. Create a forum setting the parent to the forum you created in step 2.

If you've already created a forum, edit it and assign it a parent from the drpdown.

The forum listing in the control panel clearly shows what forums are children of the associated parents.

Repeat again and again for as many subforums as you need.

Thank you Giz.........
Forutnately I set up the new version of threads on my back-up server so I can experiment and learn my way before going live with the new boards.

More questions to follow I am sure.

Better to try and fail than to never have tried at all; for life is but an accumulation of moments, and one must make them worth living, for if they do not, then what was the pointe...
