Went to turn on subscriptions so users coupld opt to get posts emailed to them, and saw this:
Allow Forum Subscriptions? Requires cron setup of cron/php/subscriptions.php
Our server prgrammer asked me to point him to the instructions for setting up cron/php/subscriptions.php
Running 6.5.5
Thanks in advance

Easy enough, setup a crontask to run subscriptions.php every 6 hours.
it'd be similar to: * 0,6,12,18 * * * php /path/to/file.php

You do need to have php compiled as a binary so that it can be run from command line. If php is only installed as a web server module this will not work.

It's not a bad idea to compile both when installing or upgrading php. It's not as though you're going to lose a whole lot of disc space.
