I am new to Threads, but used UBB Classic extensively. Using Classic, as Admin or Moderator, it was possible to be notified (by email) of all new Users and all new posts. I do not want to hold up the posting or registration process by requiring manual approval--I just want to be notified that new users/post events have occurred. Can this be done? I am running a small board, so not currently worried about potential overload. Thanks

MC,
There is an option in the control panel to set it so you are sent an email when a user registers.
For the posts, just go to your watch list and set all your forums to be "watched" (and sent an email) and you will get what you are looking for.

Fred,
That's very helpful--thanks.
I hadn't thought of the "watch" option, so that clearly resolves that issue.
I have not, however, found the control panel option for new user notification. I'll keep searching.
Thanks again.

And if you're wary of someone add them to your watched list too, then you can follow there posts everywhere lol..
Make sure.
1. Update your preferences. To e-mail when you add a watch.
You can always check these via the watched items and edit option.

Mark,
Thank you. That too was helpful.
I have not yet been able to make the email notification work. My preferences do specify email for Watch. I suspect the problem is in Primary Settings/Advanced Options/SMTP Server If the default isn't working, it's unclear how to set this value.

If you're under a linux server, ignore the SMTP option, it'll use the default sendmail information in the php.ini.
As for mailing on new registration; it should mail all admins when a new user registers so long as you have the registration moderation queue enabled.

Also, I should mention, if you're using windows and need to specify detils for an smtp server, you can do so in the mailer directly by editing the libs/phpmailer/class.phpmailer.php around lines 180 and 186
