Hi, is the most recent post always supposed to post at the top? I thought the "flat mode" was supposed to make it post in a consecutive order, oldest to newest. That's what I'd like.

Thanks.

When viewing a post, any new posts will be appended to the end. It should auto scroll you to the newest post and if there are multiple you can just pick up from there. Currently there isn't an option for it to have the newest posts be at the top, and list in descending order from there.

None of my forum posts do this. I have tested quite a bit and with my other admin also. I know what makes it work...it is the display option underneath ALL of the post. The problem is, mine is defaulted to display in "descending" order and I don't know where to go to make the default display as "ascending."

Is there a fix for this? Thanks.

Trixie, to re-phrase what Rick wrote, posts ARE displayed in descending order: Earliest at the top, and latest (newest) at the bottom.

And that IS ascending order (I realize that seems reversed, but it is not... if you have multiple posts with different dates, ascending order is:
May 1
May 2
May 3
...
May 25

The number in the date gets bigger as you go down.

And as Rick said, you cannot change that.

I meant ascending. Could a moderator edit the above and delete this? Thanks.

I understand fully now. I was in the "index" area where it lists all the topics within a forum. I thought this was incorrect, but it's not. Once I opened the topic, all the replies were in ascending order the way I want it to be. I am new at being a community owner and I'm just to eager for my britches! Thanks for setting me straight. Gotta go now.
