I got into the catnip earlier today and for a minute or two (actually it was about an hour) for the life of me, I couldn't remember my login password to my discussion group. You can imagine how embarrassing that was (no, not getting into the catnip).

So I thought, I'd simply FTP to my site and retrieve it from the user's folder, which was maintained under the old version of the software. Much to my dismay, I couldn't locate it. Any idea where that is stored?

You could use the lost my password option

Well, user data is stored in the database... The password is encoded via md5(); so it's not plain text...

Best bet? "lost password" page will generate a temporary password which will let you change your password.

Thanks guy and dainty guy (hey dainty wasn't my idea ). Having it this way adds more security to the system.

Theres ways around md5 encoding; I was hoping Rick would take CC's idea of:
$password = md5(md5($password . $salt))
