Hi. I'm running a new install of 7.2 with a small test group and for the most part everything is working well. When others and myself try to "Preview a Reply" (or preview a new post) the board seems to hangs up, but if we just click on Reply it works fine?? Out of curiosity I did a Permissions Check in the Control Panel and got the following results (see below). Should I change the Permissions on the files with errors, and is it possible that something here is what's causing the "Preview Reply" to hang up? Thanks in advance!! cache (OK)

Wrapped your post in code tags so that it doesn't scroll  ... The chmods are there for reasons: Language Files - So that you can use the text editor in the CP. Image Files - Not entirely sure, i think it's related to the upgrade script so it can remove files? Template Files - So that you can use the template editor in the CP. I doubt any of these chmods would be the result of preview reply hanging; in fact, i'm willing to bet any users experiancing this issue are IE users, in which case it's likely due to IE's shabby implementation of ajax

Thanks Gizmo... yea, I use IE 7.0 and I'm guessing the others having this problem do as well. Is there a work around that you know of, or maybe a way to drop the "preview" option from the user selections? Seems pretty drastic, but the majority of visitors use IE now a days. Also, do you know where I can find a list of the proper CHMODS for the UBB files in my permissions check list?

Well, the perm checker tells you what to update; so the proper chmods of those files/folders:
Folders - 777 (full read, write, execute)
Files - 666 (full read, write)
By default they're uploaded as:
Folders - 755
Files - 644
As for removing the preview reply, this can be done through the template editor; I believe there area few discussions over how IE handles AJAX on this forum, likely just use the search utility to locate them.

IE7 can be a total pain. The Preview Reply hangs, it doesn't like the Shout Box and other things that you will find along the way. One major problem that I have with it is Member Management in the CP. If I edit any details it returns a 406 error and completely locks me out (see this thread). I now use Firefox for everything as it never gives me any problems at all.

A 406 error is generated by the Apache Module Mod_Security; it has nothing to do with IE7 or the UBB; it is in fact your host using a highly anal retentive security module that works for crap... Only they can fix any mod_security issues.
Feel free to search here for many discussions on mod_security (as an ex TS of a webhost, I tend to know about these things, the mudayne information you keep in your head..)

It SHOULD occour weather you use IE, FireFox, Opera, etc; not sure why it doesn't display... But I'm relatively sure this is a 406 error which would mean it's served by the mod_security module
