Hi, Just updated to 7.2.1 and thought we'd add the photo forums. It's enabled but when I try to upload the photo using the image manager, it just hangs. I'm on a hosted installation. All permissions for the gallery folders and subfolders are 777. Thanks for any help.

Do you have it setup to use ImageMagick or GD2?

Well... I'm not sure. I did a PHP Info and it show GD as installed, but I don't know if that's good enough. I am a UNIX moron and wouldn't really know. The pull down on the gallery setup showed GD2, but I don't know if that meant it's actually installed or is an option.

It says it's version 2.0.28 and freetype enabled.

If GD2 is showing as an option, then it's installed and available. So, that's good. The first thing I'd do is debug with the captcha test. While logged in as an admin, go to this url on your forums and see if it displays anything:

ubbthreads.php?ubb=captcha&t=gd&test=1

Ok, so that's good. That means it's able to use the GD2 functions and everything is working in that area.

Do you have regular file attachments enabled on the forum and are those working ok? Since we know that the graphics library is working, it's either going to be something with file uploads in general or with moving the uploaded files.

Yeah, I've got attachments enabled. Let me check on their functionality. Standby...

There was something screwy there, so I fixed it and now the attachments work again. I was able to attach that file to a post with the file manager, but still cannot attach one to the photo gallery with the image manager.

Ok, a couple more things to check and then it will probably require a support ticket so I can login directly and look at a few things.

How large is the image you are trying to attach?

Does it actually just hang, or does it eventually time out?

When trying to attach the image do you see any files being generated in the tmp/ directory within your ubbthreads install?

It's a 95KB jpg file.

It looks like it posts the file into the tmp directory along with a .jpg.thumb file almost immediately.

I haven't let it sit for more than about five minutes. I'll do that.

FYI- If I close the image manager then go to it again, it shows the file I uploaded as the sequential number in the tmp directory but no file attributes or items. It lets me click "remove" to remove it from the list, but it stays in the tmp directory.

Ok, so it sounds like it's either hanging when it gets to the medium sized image or potentially when it tries to enter the details into the FILES table in the database.

It should generate a .thumb, then a .medium, and then a .full.

What sizes do you have set for the medium and full settings in the Gallery Settings page of the control panel?

All the defaults: 7, 8

FYI- I let it go and it eventually (after ten minutes or so) redirected to the main forums page within the image manager screen.

Ok, at this point I think we'll need a support ticket opened with admin info for the forums and FTP information for the site.

Ok. I'll submit that now. Thanks.
