I do searches for THREADS (rather than repetitive lists of replies that reference the same thread) by including -"re:" in the search string of subject-only searches.

It's a very useful thing to know, but not very user friendly for those who can't figure it out. I'd like to request a "show only whole threads" check box.

UPDATE: The trick described here doesn't actually work in 7x anymore, so we've taken a step backwards. Now we really need this.

Good suggestion, maybe also mention per thread how many hits there were.



Must be the fulltext search index nog indexing words that are 4 letters or less.

i'm kinda in the middle of banging on dosearch.inc.php for 7.3 and that is one area that is being looked at.

This is really painful. I made a new forum to split off some content and I was trying to locate the relevant threads to move into that new forum and I'm having to go through page after page of replies.

Really make this more time consuming than it's worth. Argh.
