I enabled spider friendly URLS and now the forums won;t appear - I get 404 errors. I see this in teh admin panel:
Note: The PATH_INFO environmental variable must be available for this feature to function properly.
How do I do this?

I have IIS not Apache and do not see where to do this. I did Google something that says I need to edit a ubbthreads PHP file somewhere - does that sounds right?

What version of Windows are you running under. This link might help you.

Windows 2000 Server
I tried that and then restarted the IIS services. Still get 404 page not found. This URL looks like this too.
/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/1/page/1
That can't be right.

That's the proper URL, minus the domain name, as you can see how it looks here.
Try going into your control panel, and in the bottom menu, click on the PHP info link and look for the PATH_INFO variable in the resulting page. If that's blank then it's still not populating it after the change. I'm not sure on the exact settings for IIS, but I know we have a few people here with more windows knowledge that might be able to help out.

Here is what I find with the words PATH_INFO in it.
ORIG_PATH_INFO /BB/admin/phpinfo_iframe.php _SERVER["ORIG_PATH_INFO"] /BB/admin/phpinfo_iframe.php

You would set it as an environment variable and include the path
My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Environment Variables System variables
Then create the PATH_INFO and set it to = the path location it wants.
However judging from the Link that Rick posted I don't think this is the same or what it's looking for.
Doing as that article said didn't fix it?

The path info variable reads whatever "String" is included after the script name. This string will vary always, it's the data after ubbthreads.php in a users url to your site.

What I supplied was just how to create your own SYSTEM VARIABLES which this does not look like it applies.
This error seems to indicate that PHP is requesting a specific entry, so creating/editing your own Variable does not seem to apply to this scenario.
Did you try the link posted by Rick? Did you enable/dis-able friendly spider links and see how it works each way?

With a short Google Search I've found numerous things to try (which would seem to be published by meere experts with IIS), I'd highly recommend doing some rough research with these results. One of which would be this which is provided by Micro$oft.

I have tried the KB article from MS - no change. I have read through TONS of postings on the PHP.net site. They say I need to talk to the developer. HA HA. And the link you posted for Google Search I have done but 90% refer to IIS6 and the rest post the same question - no answer. Surely UBB must have run into this somewhere?

Surely UBB must have run into this somewhere? Well see, it's your webserver not populating the proper variables, so it's not a UBB issue; the UBB simply reads these values and works according to the data. GOT IT - well kinda. I got it working but new problem - will start new thread. For future reference, what did you change to get it working?
